Accountancy
I can provide you with full book-keeping and accountancy services, payroll, Vat returns, budgets preparation and a cost accounts package.

Audit
The annual audit is a statutory requirement for all limited companies. All audits will be carried out in an efficient and timely basis. I will use this audit to evaluate your business systems and to identify opportunities to improve your business.

Company Secretarial
As a limited company your have many obligations under the Companies Acts. The most laborious of these is to submit an annual return. Failure to do so can result in unnecessary penalties and even strike-off from the companies Register. I can take over this obligation for you as well as give advice on incorporation and directors' legal responsibilities.

Finance
Raising finance must be carefully managed or valuable profits can be lost in interest payments. I will advise on the raising of finance through grant aid, bank loan or venture capital investment. I can help you draw up your business plans and projected cash flow statements to ensure that the best finance package is available.

                                              Taxation
Income tax
The Irish Revenue now impose severe penalties and interest if tax I underpaid or not paid on time, whether accidental or otherwise.I will ensure that returns are completed in full and on time to avoid unnecessary fines and penalties. I can advise on how to keep your tax liabilities to the legal minimum and make the most of any tax saving opportunities.

Capital Gains Tax
I can help you plan for the minimum tax liability when you do dispose of a capital asset such as shares, land or property.

Separation and Divorce
I realise that any separation is very painful. At this stressful time I can provide sound advice on how best to split any property, on how to arrange maintenance payments and on the completion of forms. At this time one needs realistic advice that will take account of the entire situation and one's long term needs. Having many years experience of dealing with the taxation of separated couples and more recently divorced I can provide the practical advice that is required at a times like this.

Landlords
I have many clients who have income from the letting of property, some with one small apartment let out; others with a whole portfolio of properties. I will draw up accounts and complete returns claiming all possible allowances and reliefs. Also I will advise in a timely fashion on opportunities to be considered such as student accommodation relief, rural & urban renewal reliefs etc. Finally if you need to dispose of your property I can advise on the payment of capital gains tax and any tax saving measures you can take.

New Businesses I will advise on the appropriate format, which your new venture should take; limited company or sole trader. I will ensure that you register for all types of taxes when necessary, comply with VAT obligations and your obligations as an employer. I will show you which records you need to keep for future Revenue and other audits. If your business can benefit from the issue of a C2 form (or a Tax Clearance Certificate) I can advise on how best to obtain one.

Making of a will Before you make a will you should consider the tax implications of distributing your assets according to your wishes. Often there is a more tax efficient method of allocating the same assets to the same people. The distribution of a will can be a lengthy and complicated process, which I can help to simplify.

Revenue Audit A Revenue Audit can be a long and strenuous process even when you've been fully compliant! Revenue staff can spend several days examining your affairs on your premises. I can help by carrying out a review of your tax affairs in preparation of the Revenue Audit, by dealing with the Inspector on your behalf and if necessary representing your interests before the appeal commissioners, the ombudsman or the courts

Employees A spokesman for the Dept of Finance reported in December 2003 that only a fraction of the tax relief that could be claimed by employees, such as medical expenses, trade union subscriptions and local authority charges has actually been claimed. I intend to rectify this by offering this type of service at a nominal fee to all taxpayers. I can also give excellent advise on the taxation of lump sums, benefits in kind, foreign income and pensions.

Internal Auditing
Internal Audit is an independent appraisal function established by the management of an organisation for the review of the internal control system as a service to the organisation. It objectively examines, evaluates and reports on the adequacy of internal controls as a contribution to the proper, economic, effective and efficient use of resources. To ensure the independence of the internal auditor, he or she should not be engaged in any other duties of the organisation. This is difficult to arrange in small organisations where a separate internal auditor post would not be feasible. This work can be outsourced to me at very reasonable rates. I've had over 3 years of involvement in Internal audit of a large civil service department and can make this practical experience work for smaller organisations.

Risk Management
The Mullarkey Report recommended that risk assessment and management should be introduced into the management processes of Departments within two years of the publication of the Report, that is by January 2005. Accounting Officers of each Government department or
office are also required to include, with the Appropriation Accounts for their Department/Office in respect of 2003 and following years, a statement on their organisation's systems of internal financial controls. This means that an evaluation of the strength of each section's internal controls must be carried out. I can facilitate this evaluation by providing a workshop for managers and heads of sections to help them assess their internal controls both financial and otherwise.
